Frequently Asked Questions |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
Here are the answers to our most frequently asked questions. Of course, we hope you will also talk to us in person about any concerns you have.
How do Drs. Beck, Follis and McMasters keep up-to-date with all the current techniques and materials?Drs. Beck, Follis and McMasters emphasize continuing education for the entire team. Everybody takes multiple courses every year to keep up to date with the latest techniques. How do I know when it's time to come in for a check-up?
What about my children? At what age should they first see a dentist?Generally, children are ready to see a dentist at the age of two. By then, most of their primary teeth are in, and they are ready to meet the dentist. Even if they don't have dental work performed, they can meet the dentist and his staff, see what a dental office really looks like, and hopefully learn that going to the dental office can be fun. Do you accept referrals?Absolutely! Our practice has been built on word-of-mouth for the past thirty years. We're always looking forward to helping new patients. Do you accept my insurance plan?We work with more than 400 insurance plans in our town, and we're certainly willing to work with yours. Any questions you have about your insurance plan can be directed to Lisa Paul, our financial expert. What do I do if I have an emergency when the office is closed?We're available 24 hours, seven days a week. Just call our office number and you'll hear the emergency phone number you need to dial. After that, one of the doctors will be paged and will answer your call immediately. My child has had an accident and his/her tooth has been entirely knocked out? What do I do?There is a chance we can get the tooth back in your child's mouth, so please rush your child and the tooth to our office right away--within the hour. If possible, place the tooth in a cup of milk, so that the calcium and vitamin D from the milk can continue feeding the tooth. I want to learn more about dentistry and how to improve my dental health. Do you have any suggestions to expand my dental knowledge?We’re glad you asked! We have invested in the CAESY patient education system for exclusive literature concerning dental health and dentistry topics such as flossing, x-rays, diabetes, bonding, veneers and more. We want you to be active in your dental health, and knowledge is key in your involvement. We invite you to browse through our collection of Patient Education topics, Dental Health Guides and our Smilelink Newsletter. What different payment options do you provide?
How can I have whiter teeth?To whiten your teeth, we use the most advanced technology available, called Zoom! The process takes about an hour and the results are dramatic--up to seven to nine shades whiter in less than 60 minutes. You can go on with your day right away with a whiter, brighter smile. To see dramatic results with whitening or other cosmetic procedures, ask us about before-and-after pictures. We also have a weekend whitening system that you can use at home for two days or another take-home whitening program that takes two weeks. I want my front teeth to look better, but I don't want to wear braces. What can you do to help?There are several options available. You might be thinking of the old-fashioned silver braces. Today we can offer Invisalign, an invisible band around your teeth. Or you may be a good candidate for cosmetic recontouring, bonding, or porcelain veneers. An all-porcelain restoration can be bonded to your teeth to change the color, correct the alignment, and give a natural smile. It takes about four weeks rather than two years. Call us for a free consultation and we'll talk to you about your specific needs and explain what's right for you. Tell me more about Sleep Dentistry...It Really Works! You really can sleep through your dental appointment. It Is Safe! You take a small pill prior to treatment, no intravenous tubes or needles. You will have little or no memory of the experience. You won't remember any sounds or smells. You will sleep for up to five to six hours after taking the pill. The time you are asleep will vary depending on your needed treatment. Complex dental treatments that often require six to eight appointments, can be done in as little as one! All while you sleep. People who have difficulty getting numb will find that sedation dentistry eliminates this problem. Sleep dentistry is a safe way to reduce the fatigue of extended dental treatment requiring long visits |
